At the Xbox press conference today we saw the first¬†glimpse¬†at Halo 4. 4 years after the war with the covenant we see good old John 117 and Cortana at it again to save the universe. We see a UNSC ship get sucked into the¬†planet¬†the¬†Chief¬†and Cortana just happen to be on. We see revamped weapons such as the Battle Rifle and¬†Assault¬†Rifle. We also see Forrunner weapons. YES I DID SAY THE “F” WORD FORRUNER!!!. Check out this clip from E3 2012
So a lot went down at the Xbox Press Conference, most good but some bad. This year, Microsoft wanted to focus a lot on the entertainment side of the 360 and boy did they deliver. From Xbox’s Smartglass to¬†integration¬†with Kinect to sports, Microsoft had it all.
Arguably, the biggest announcement was the new Xbox Smartglass. There have been rumors and and a few minor leaks prior to today, but now we no all of the details and what it is all about. The idea behind Smartglass is to¬†incorporate¬†all of your different platforms of media into your Xbox experience. This means everything from the games you play, the shows or sports you watch, and the sites you go to are intertwined between your TV, smartphone, and/or tablet. Wait, I said the sites you go to, and it wasn’t a mistype. Internet Explorer will now be on your Xbox and it is fully Smartglass and Kinect integrated. All in all their is really nothing more to this than is obvious. You can go online to different sites with your Xbox and your Kinect is just a way to move from site to site at a more efficient pace. It uses Bing as its homepage, which is no surprise, and that’s about it.
Today DICE has released an big 1 Gig Update. DICE has Put in “Shortcut” packs like in the previous Battlefield games. The update came out to Playstation 3 today and will soon be on Xbox 360 and PC. Click here to go to¬†The Battlefield Blog. It will tell you all the newly added things in the update.
Some of you have heard of this game, and some of you may not have heard of it. Lollipop Chainsaw is about a high school student/Cheerleader/Chainsaw wielding blonde¬† surrounded by Zombies. During the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco Warner Bros. interactive announced that Lollipop Chainsaw will hit stores in North America June 12th, it will eventually hit stores in Europe on June 15th. Lollipop Chainsaw will be released on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
Rayman Origins came out for the PS3 and 360 over 3 months ago to rave reviews and even before I heard how good it was it was a game that I really wanted. But, for some reason I kept putting it off and never got around to purchasing it. Well, I’m an idiot! Because I have now finally taken the plunge and bought Rayman Origins on the Vita and it is the best plattformer that I have played since Super Mario Brother 3. Yes, Super Mario Brothers 3. It’s better than any Mario game that has come out since 1999, as well as the Donkey Kong Series. Rayman does everything those games do, only exceptionally better.
The game is downright stunning to look at. You can ask my roommates all of whom played coop with me through the campaign and literally every 10 seconds I said, ‚ÄėI cannot believe how beautiful this game looks.‚ÄĚ It‚Äôs a tie between Uncharted Golden Abyss and Rayman for best graphics ever on a handheld. If I had to chose one I would chose Uncharted, because there‚Äôs more detail in what‚Äôs on the screen, but Rayman is right there‚Ķ.and I mean, right there.
The game play is your typical plattformer, the only downside is the Vita version is not playable with up to 4 player coop (which is truly the way to play) like the console versions. However, it’s still bloody addicting. There are time trials, boss battles, secrets to collect, I found myself constantly coming back for more so I can up my score and earn all the collectibles. The jumping is fluent, the moves are powerful, and your character response perfectly to what you do on the controller. It manages to check all the boxes that every platform gamer wants.
