Rayman Origins came out for the PS3 and 360 over 3 months ago to rave reviews and even before I heard how good it was it was a game that I really wanted. It’s better than any Mario game that has come out since 1999, as well as the Donkey Kong Series. Rayman does everything those games do, only exceptionally better.
The game is downright stunning to look at. You can ask my roommates all of whom played coop with me through the campaign and literally every 10 seconds I said, ‘I cannot believe how beautiful this game looks.” It’s a tie between Uncharted Golden Abyss and Rayman for best graphics ever on a handheld. The game play is your typical plattformer, the only downside is the Vita version is not playable with up to 4 player coop (which is truly the way to play) like the console versions. However, it’s still bloody addicting. There are time trials, boss battles, secrets to collect, I found myself constantly coming back for more so I can up my score and earn all the collectibles. The jumping is fluent, the moves are powerful, and your character response perfectly to what you do on the controller. It manages to check all the boxes that every platform gamer wants.
