Happy hump day y’all, hope it was a fun one! Plenty of gaming news today, from the big screen to smallish. Oh and for the first time in a while, we have some Wii news! And don’t worry it isn’t bad news, it even made me a little giddy.
So let’s start off with the Wii news because it’s sort of a doozie. A leaked picture came out today on 1up.com, and in this picture was the not technically in development Super Smash Bros game. Yes apparently we have confirmation of the next SSB, and it will be called Super Smash Bros Universe, using the U from the Wii U logo in Universe. Cleaver, but that’s just what Nintendo does for a plethora of its games. Just pray that in a couple of years it will be announced/released and it will be the best fighter ever.
Next some news about what I’m hoping to be the first great video game adaptation to the big screen, Mass Effect. We still don’t no a lot about the movie, but today Legendary Pictures has allowed us to have a taste of what the movie will be about. First off, Shepard is the main character and is male, which was to be expected (we don’t no the cast yet). Second, Joker will not be played by Seth Green because the two don’t look alike. Which I will except, but finding an actor who could portray Joker correctly will, I think, be the hardest part of the casting. And the last tidbit we got was the the story line will not be following the games in any way, shape or form. It will be completely original and don’t worry Bioware is helping write the script so you shouldn’t be freaking out about how it will end up like Green Lantern. Bioware would never allow that.
Two pieces of news about Battlefield 3 also were released. Starting 12:00 am September 29th, 2011 you all will be able to play the BF3 open beta! There is a lot of information about it, so go to the official site. Remember, if you pre-ordered the game or bought a new copy of Medal of Honor, you will be allowed into the beta a full two days earlier. And speaking of pre-orders, Arvind Bhatia, a Sterne Agee analyst, says that 1.5 million of you have pre-ordered Battlefield 3. Bhatia also stated that the “Back to Karkand multiplayer map pack [is] seen as a considerable incentive.” So let’s hope that all goes well and Battlefield kicks MW3′s ass…not that I am biased or anything.
Finally, I reported last week that Sony was shneaky and made it so you could not the company under the ruling of a class-action lawsuit. Apparently a way has been found around that. Now I no nobody reading this will be suing Sony, but if you want to know how, go to IGN’s page about it here.

E3 2011: Sony Press Conferences
All we have to say is that, as of right now Sony won E3.
Check out some video’s on what happen at Sony’s press conferences.
Sony @ E3
Sony
Ah, Sony…So much promise, yet you manage to screw up on so many occasions (PSP GO, PSN, Cross game chat, Lair!). The first thing Sony needs to address is the PSN. The PSN has now been down for almost a month, leaking millions of users credit cards and personal information to the infamous (no pun intended) hackers. Two words Sony, “Not cool”.
Once they address the PSN at the press conference, they will finally be able to focus on what they do best, games. And looking at the list Xbox and Wii don’t stand a chance in this department. Games like Last Guardian, Infamous 2, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, Sorcery, and not to mention all the cross platform games, Sony truly has the best upcoming catalog.
Now, what would a Sony press conference be like if it didn’t address its little brother? The NGP better known as the PSP2, has massive potential and power, both of which I am certain Sony will remind us of at the press conference.
Bottom line Sony in the words of Ricky Ricardo, “Has a lot of explaining to do!” But, I think once they do it they should have the strongest showing at E3.
