At the Xbox press conference today we saw the first¬†glimpse¬†at Halo 4. 4 years after the war with the covenant we see good old John 117 and Cortana at it again to save the universe. We see a UNSC ship get sucked into the¬†planet¬†the¬†Chief¬†and Cortana just happen to be on. We see revamped weapons such as the Battle Rifle and¬†Assault¬†Rifle. We also see Forrunner weapons. YES I DID SAY THE “F” WORD FORRUNER!!!. Check out this clip from E3 2012
So a lot went down at the Xbox Press Conference, most good but some bad. This year, Microsoft wanted to focus a lot on the entertainment side of the 360 and boy did they deliver. From Xbox’s Smartglass to¬†integration¬†with Kinect to sports, Microsoft had it all.
Arguably, the biggest announcement was the new Xbox Smartglass. There have been rumors and and a few minor leaks prior to today, but now we no all of the details and what it is all about. The idea behind Smartglass is to¬†incorporate¬†all of your different platforms of media into your Xbox experience. This means everything from the games you play, the shows or sports you watch, and the sites you go to are intertwined between your TV, smartphone, and/or tablet. Wait, I said the sites you go to, and it wasn’t a mistype. Internet Explorer will now be on your Xbox and it is fully Smartglass and Kinect integrated. All in all their is really nothing more to this than is obvious. You can go online to different sites with your Xbox and your Kinect is just a way to move from site to site at a more efficient pace. It uses Bing as its homepage, which is no surprise, and that’s about it.
Well it’s humpday and I am watching my beloved Braves go from one of the best years in a while…to literally one of the worst meltdowns in MLB history. But I know none of you care, so I won’t linger. Today we have¬†a¬†couple of interesting gaming¬†news to talk to you about.
Firstly, there are two pieces of news about Skyrim. During an interview with PC Gamer, Bethesda stated that the the changes to gameplay in Skyrim rivaled that of Oblivion to Morrowind. This is good news because the differences between Morrowind and Oblivion are significant, so much so that Oblivion is now considered a gold standard for Western¬†RPG’s. The visuals however, are not significantly different, the reason being that the technology hasn’t advanced as much as Oblivion to Morrowind. Let’s just hope that the facial animation made the jump to the changes in gameplay…I don’t like looking at stiffs Bethesda!
The other piece of Skyrim news is that there is over 70 actors and a whopping 60,000 lines of dialogue. That’s a lot of freaking dialogue, so chances are you will recognize more than one random dude on the side of the castle.
The other piece of interesting news is that steam is being rumored to possibly coming to the 360. Now this is pure speculation, but with steam on the PS3 and having the ability to play Portal 2 with Mac and PC users, it is pretty compelling for Microsoft to jump onto the wagon.
Well the Braves just lost in classic Braves fashion, the Red Sox just lost in classic Red Sox fashion and the Yankees just lost in classic Yankees fashion…god this is a crazy year!
