E3 Xbox Press Conference – Entertainment Side

So a lot went down at the Xbox Press Conference, most good but some bad. This year, Microsoft wanted to focus a lot on the entertainment side of the 360 and boy did they deliver. From Xbox’s Smartglass to integration with Kinect to sports, Microsoft had it all.

Arguably, the biggest announcement was the new Xbox Smartglass. There have been rumors and and a few minor leaks prior to today, but now we no all of the details and what it is all about. The idea behind Smartglass is to incorporate all of your different platforms of media into your Xbox experience. This means everything from the games you play, the shows or sports you watch, and the sites you go to are intertwined between your TV, smartphone, and/or tablet. Wait, I said the sites you go to, and it wasn’t a mistype. Internet Explorer will now be on your Xbox and it is fully Smartglass and Kinect integrated. All in all their is really nothing more to this than is obvious. You can go online to different sites with your Xbox and your Kinect is just a way to move from site to site at a more efficient pace. It uses Bing as its homepage, which is no surprise, and that’s about it.

Battlefield 3

By: Anthony Loglisci

Battlefield 3 is not just any FPS. It has its own unique attributes that most FPS’ do not share. The Battlefield franchise is known for there realistic game play features and they surely did not falter on that this time around with Battlefield 3. If you saw any of the E3 coverage this past June you saw the awesome power and great game play that DICE studious unveiled about Battlefield 3 and could possibly give the Call of Duty franchise a run for their money.

Not too much is known about the single player in Battlefield 3. You take on the role of Staff Sergeant Henry “black” Blackburn and/or Sergeant Miller of the Marine Corp. It is 2014 and you start out in the Middle East. At one point of the story you are on the Iran/ Iraq border fighting the enemies of the US. During the campaign you will find many firefights and gun battles as many have seen before in the past Battlefield games. Basically when it comes to the single player expect more of the same but better. What’s better? Better graphics mostly because of a new engine that DICE has integrated with Battlefield 3. The combination of the new engine and the real life game play will surely give buyers a good run with the campaign. Oh did I mention you can drive vehicles again? Now who doesn’t like that? Now there have been rumors of a few new surprises in the single player but we will have to play the game to find out.
